Explore the Amphitheater in the Hollywood Hills - Hollywood Bowl
Enjoy an amazing experience at the Historic, yet modern Hollywood Bowl in the scenic Hollywood Hills. The Hollywood Bowl is one of the most famous places in the world, as this venue has been around for a long time, and has witnessed the evolution of music. The amphitheater has hosted stars from long ago, to very modern musicians, such as Bob Dylan, Barbra Streisand, and for more recent music, Prince and Lady Gaga have rocked this stage. All the locals and visitors say you haven’t experienced Los Angeles until you’ve been to the Bowl.
The Hollywood Bowl has been around for decades, almost a century. It’s first ever season was in 1922. At first, all that was present at the Bowl was an astonishing few wooden benches, and a very small wooden stage, that hosted the wonderful Los Angeles Philharmonic, conducted by the well respected Alfred Hertz. At one time, this venue was known as the Daisy Dell, and its spot was chosen for its amazing natural acoustics. The final payment of the Bowl was paid in full by 1923, and to celebrate, the mortgage to the property was burned on stage. Around 1936, Percy Grainger, a wonderful composer, and Ella Viola Strom, a Swedish poet, were met in wedlock among the roughly 22,000 viewers.
The Doors, a famous American rock band, recorded one of their, if not their best concert at this venue. The Beatles, Monty Python, Van Morrison, Morrissey and Ben Harper have also been apart of this legacy.
